Loison Pandoro Classico – Traditional Italian Butter Cake with Bourbon Vanilla
Golden, feather-light and delicately scented with vanilla, Loison's Pandoro Classico is one of Italy's most cherished Christmas specialities. With its distinctive star-shaped form and beautifully tender, buttery crumb, this traditional cake needs no elaborate filling. Its character comes from the quality of its ingredients and the care devoted to its preparation.
Patience is essential to its remarkable texture. Over 72 hours of artisanal preparation, natural fermentation with traditional Lievito Madre creates a wonderfully soft, airy dough. 16% fresh butter, fresh eggs from Italian barn-reared hens, cream and milk contribute to its golden colour, delicate richness and melt-in-the-mouth softness.
The finishing touch is natural Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar (0.2%), recognised by the Slow Food Presidia initiative. Its warm, fragrant character complements the buttery dough, while a subtle touch of unrefined sea salt from Cervia brings the flavours into balance.
Just before serving, the Pandoro is traditionally dusted with the icing sugar included in the pack, giving its golden star-shaped silhouette a beautiful snowy finish.
